Books, books, books, books!!!!!
Hello, there! So I know it has been a long time since I have blogged but school and other things sometime get in the way. This blog isn’t exactly all about being handicap but it will tie in.
Lately, I have been reading and writing a lot! The latest series I read was “The Hunger Games” and after the first few chapters I was hooked! Fair warning this blog may contain spoilers(but I will try not to give away major things). Okay, I started the series on Saturday, November 19 and finished the last book on Friday, November 25! The first book took me two days, second book took me three days(because of school) and the third book took me three days(because my mom wouldn’t let me bring it with me during Thanksgiving!). Okay, if you’ve read the books you know what it’s all about but just to promote others to read it I will tell you the summary. Katniss Everdeen(our main character/protagonist) is a teenage girl living in District 12 in Panem. Panem is the future U.S. country that is split into twelve districts. We follow Katniss Everdeen through her daily life but we also learn of what a poor District 12 is. In the beginning we learn of The Hunger Games and what they represent. The Games are a televised fight to the death show that the Capitol(of Panem) puts on annually. The Reaping day takes place and we see Katniss’ fear as her little sister, Prim is picked for Tribute and Katniss takes her place. Katniss gets put with Peeta Mellark as the boy tribute. They go to the Games together and….Okay, well if you want to know what happens to Katniss and Peeta you will HAVE to read the books.(By the way, Prim is not a huge part of the book.)
Okay, I know your ready to kill me about that cliffhanger but I can’t give away the entire start of the amazing series. Please, please, please read the series because they are so good. If you must know, these books are action packed, heart-clinching, and a slight romance is involved. What I enjoyed a lot was that there was a romance but it’s not the vocal point of the books. They are mainly about the struggle for life and happiness in a corrupt government. Well, I guess before I start freaking and tell you everything about these books, I best stop here.
Also other books/series that I suggest(and looove) are; Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Twilight Saga, House of Night(PG-13 please!), The Notebook, Charlie St. Cloud, The Chronicles of Narnia and etc….
Always,
Rachel
P.S. Let me know if you’ve read any of these or suggest some of your favorites with me!
Best Friends!
Hey, there! So, yesterday two of my best friends came over to my house and we talked forever. Later, they invited me to a church bonfire that Megan’s(one of the best friends) youth group was having. At first I didn’t know about going because I wasn’t sure if I could get around in my chair. Of course, Megan and Lara kept saying “You should go!” After awhile, they left and I really didn’t know what to do…I wanted to go so bad but I felt embarrassed about needing help to eat and stuff. Well, later on my friend, Hailey called me and was like; “Come, it’s been forever since we’ve all been together and we will help you.” Well, I decided to go and when I got there everyone was so nice. My friends really did help me and we all had a blast! Once, Lara got there we really were having an amazing time. I even got to go on my first hay ride in my chair. The adults and other kids really did try to include me! What I’m trying to say is that when you have disability it’s amazing to have friends that make you feel normal. Do any of you have friends that make you feel great like that? Please tell me if you do!
P.S. I love you, Megan, Lara and Hailey!!!(:
My life(:
Hello, love. My name is Rachel and I am 16 years old. I live in Tennessee with my parents. Serious moment, I am in a wheelchair but that doesn’t stop me from being happy.(Okay, sometimes it does.) I was born 3 1/2 months early and weighed only 2Ibs 1ounce. I have CP (Cerebral Palsy) and was given only a 40% chance of living, but here I am! So, if you have any questions about me let me know. I want everyone to know that I am totally in my right mind, it’s just my legs that don’t particularly work correctly.
About me: I love God, my family and friends more than anything!!!! They all are my support system and lift me up when needed. My favorite things to do are; write, read, listen to music and hang out with my friends. Music, reading and writing are practically my life! I love listening to Alex Goot, Luke Conard, Ministry of Magic, Anna Graceman, Carrie Underwood, and more! I know, the nerd-ness appears in my music taste as well as books and writing. I love, love, love Harry Potter, Narnia, Percy Jackson and anything with the Greek mythology attached. I love Bethany Hamilton as well, she is such an inspiration! I feel that she taught me to be more open about my disability. Well, what else is there? If you want to know more about me or my disability, please just ask.
~Rachel
